Yoga therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalized assessment, goal setting, lifestyle management, and yoga practices for individuals or small groups. (The International Association of Yoga Therapists, IAYT)
Yoga Therapy combines yoga principals and practices with modern medical and psychological therapies to bring the body and mind into balance. Through the application of physical postures, breathing and meditation techniques, Yoga Therapy provides a unique, holistic approach to healing the body with healing the mind and emotions.
Yoga therapy can help if you are healing from injury, have chronic pain, anxiety or depression. It can help with many conditions including orthopedic injuries, Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Osteoporosis, Anxiety, Depression, and sleep disorders.
After an initial evaluation and assessment, a customized plan of care will be developed for your individual situation with goals of improving strength, flexibility, stability and movement. It will also address specific needs such as improving energy levels and reducing stress.
Even if you’re not injured or dealing with specific issues, a private yoga therapy session can help you learn more about your body, movement patterns, or just an opportunity to deepen and instill more confidence in your individual practice.
